What is the Antigen Test?
The antigen test allows detecting the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID19) proteins early in the early stages of the disease.
The sample is obtained with a nasopharyngeal exudate by qualified health personnel. A swab is inserted through the nostrils, in a somewhat annoying process but that does not last more than 30 seconds. The sample is analyzed in a device that obtains the result in 15 minutes.
What is the PCR Tes?
The PCR test allows detecting the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID19) proteins early in any phase of the disease. It is the reference test according to the Ministry of Health to confirm positives.
The sample is obtained with a nasopharyngeal exudate by qualified health personnel. A swab is inserted through the nostrils, in a somewhat annoying process but that does not last more than 30 seconds. The sample is analyzed in the laboratory, obtaining the result within 24 to 48 hours.
